Oaktree Family Medical Centre maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy towards rudeness, intimidation, aggression, and violence to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.

Please be aware that engaging in such behavior may result in being asked to leave the facility, and in some cases, it could impact the ability to continue providing care for you.

  • Do you need an appointment?

    All appointments require a booking prior. We have on-the-day bookings and emergency slots for minor injuries. Telehealth is available for COVID-19 or flu-related symptoms.

  • Do you Bulk-bill?

    No. We are a rural private billing clinic and charge for our services in line with AMA rates. To ensure that we have a stable clinical workforce Bulk-billing is not a viable option for rural QLD at the current Medicare rates.

  • What is Telehealth?

    It is the same consultation with your GP but on the phone / video link (like Skype / Zoom / video chat) from the comfort of your home. This helps to limit the spread of illnesses, and provides you access to your GP even when traveling or away. (To be eligible for a Medicare rebate you have to have attended physically within the past 12 months – excluding employment related appointments.)

  • Why am I being charged for follow-up?

    Review of your medical condition be it results or general review takes time and years of medical experience to treat your medical condition. There are often many things that require attention which may not seem apparent to you at the time of your consultation.

  • What if I only want a referral?

    A consultation with the doctor is required for all referrals. Referrals will not be provided from a phone request. In unavoidable circumstances doctors may provide a repeat referral and will attract a fee. It is illegal to backdate a referral.

  • What if I only want a script?

    Scripts can be requested via our AMS app however these can be denied for a number of reasons including prolonged times since last review; or some medications require a physical review. Scripts are provided for an specific period with an intended review date and therefore even it is a regular medication you are required to be reviewed by a doctors to receive a script.

  • What if I fail to attend my appointment?

    We understand that sometimes life gets in the way, and you may not be able to make your appointment time. It is your responsibility to contact the practice with as much notice as possible to cancel your appointment to allow us to offer it to other patients.

    Our reminder system is a courtesy only and not 100% reliable, ultimately responsibility to attend your appointment lies with you.

    If you simply fail to attend your appointment you will be charged and will not be offered a further appointment until this is paid.

    To avoid these fees and as a courtesy to your doctor and fellow patients, please always let us know. (it maybe you or someone you know that can’t get an appointment next time)Description goes here

  • Can I phone and speak to my doctor?

    The practice receives many phone requests from patients who wish to speak with the doctor. Due to the time involved in handling each call, and the disruption to patient consultations, the nature of phone inquiries must always be discussed with the receptionist first. The receptionist will then communicate with the doctor who will advise of what action is to be taken. Our receptionist are unable to give out results, this is for your safety, and for medico-legal reasons, results will not be given over the phone, unless specifically requested by a doctor.

  • My allied health provider (eg. physiotherapist, podiatrist, chiropractor) has asked me to get a care plan for their services. How do I do this?

    Please check in with your doctor about GP Management Plan options and to see if you are eligible. Not every person is eligible for Medicare rebatable GP Management Plan as per Medicare rules.
